Classes held in Art Class Tent on the Front Lawn

Fun and educational classes held on the grounds of the arts Festival. There’s something to learn for students of all ages. Class size is limited.

To register, you may either register online or complete and return this form and return by mail (or drop off in person at 23 South Lansdowne Avenue).

SATURDAY, 9/7

PAPER QUILLING
Instructor: Manasee Mahajan
Saturday, September 7, Noon – 1:00 pm
Cost: $5 per person
Ages: 10 and up (adults welcome)
Discover the art of creating decorative articles using rolled and shaped paper strips. Students will learn to use special tools to coil paper strips, shape them into various shapes, and create designs using these shapes. Make quilled bookmarks or cards in the class and take them home with you!
Class size limited to 10 students.


SUNDAY, 9/8

GOURD BOWL PAINTING
Instructor: Zakiyyah McKelven
Sunday, September 8, Noon – 1:00 pm
Cost: $10 per person
Ages: 7 and up (adultswelcome)
Come and have some fun with this unique project. Materials include 1 pre-cut, pre-cleaned gourd bowl, water based paint and brushes. Be as creative or simplistic as you like as you enjoy decorating your very own gourd bowl! Participants will be given light instructionon gourd painting techniques and get to keep their finished product.
Class size limited to 10 students.

IMPROVISATION WORKSHOPS

Saturday, September 7, 2:15 pm – 3:00 pm
Ages: 12 to Adult
Join us in our own “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” as we use our imaginations to create situations and characters to put on skits after only ten minutes. This is an interactive workshop for kids and adults interested in theater and writing and willing to challenge themselves to have fun through creativity. This 45 minute workshop has been done in very small groups of four and five up to groups as large as several hundred. Join us to become the STAR of your own show!


PONTILLISM AND MASKMAKING
Demonstrator: Mary Kay Bowden
Saturday, September 7, 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Ages: All Ages
Learn about the painting technique known as Pointillism and then try your hand at recreating this technique using marshmallows and toothpicks. All ages welcome.
